Causes of Ménière's Disease
The main cause of Meniere's disease is considered to beincreased pressure of endolymphatic fluid circulating in the inner ear. Most often this is caused by changes in electrolyte equilibrium, dysfunction of the vascular stria. To such factors lead pathological processes: osteochondrosis, diseases of the vascular system, allergic reactions of the body to external and internal factors. Head trauma, imbalance of the nervous system are also responsible for the development of Meniere's disease. Under pressure of the endolymphatic fluid, the membranous labyrinth is broken, which causes the onset of the disease. During periods of normalization of pressure, the ailment recedes for a time.
Symptoms of the disease
The main symptoms of the disease are:
- attacks of dizziness, accompanied by a feeling of nausea, weakness, pallor sickness;
- impairment of auditory qualities (noise, laying of the organs of hearing).
Diagnostics
To obtain a complete picture of the causes of the disease, the following data are needed:
- Examination of auditory qualities using a multi-frequency sound series.
- Analysis of the severity of hearing (fluctuation).
- When diagnosing Meniere's disease,test examinations. Diuretics are used (for the definition of puffiness), such as furosemide or glycerol. These drugs reduce the pressure of the endolymph and improve auditory qualities.
Treatment of Meniere's Disease
At times of attacks, the patient needsEnsure complete peace with a lack of bright light and loud sounds. Cervical areas are warmed with mustard plasters. Intra-labyrinth pressure should be reduced by drugs. Sometimes a blockade is used - an anesthetic is injected into the ear to relieve pain. In the periods of remission are appointed: therapy, strengthening the vessels; multivitamin, angioprotective agents.
Operative intervention is recommended in especially severe cases.
- If you lose more than 70 percent of auditory qualities, a destructive operation is performed in the areas of the labyrinth and auditory nerve.
- The operation of resection of the drum strings and plexuses stops the impulse to the tissues of the labyrinths.
- Drainage of bags with endolymphatic fluid (decompressing operation). Its result is a decrease in edema of the endolymph.
When the diagnosis is made - "Ménière's disease" -treatment of folk remedies is ineffective. Remember that this ailment is very serious, its neglect will lead to serious consequences. It follows that the timely start of treatment, you will not allow the flow of the disease into more complex forms.
