Armenia is one of the oldest states that allstill preserved on our planet. Often, the country was at the crossroads of interests of the larger powers. The constant struggle for survival, which lasted for centuries, was able to form many important and useful qualities for Armenians: veneration of traditions, talent, intellect and devotion. Without such qualities, it would be very difficult, almost impossible, to create such a great culture, to develop it throughout the centuries, and to transmit it to the next generations.

A large number of impregnable fortresses are brighttestifies to the exploits of Armenians. Each of them is truly unique, because any gorge and rock were included in the overall protection system. Armenia was the first country to accept Christianity at the state level. Even in the absence of a state system, the church played a significant role in preserving the customs, traditions and culture of the people. It can be concluded that the sights of Armenia are truly unique and interesting.

The center and capital of this country is the cityYerevan. It is worth only once to visit this ancient, but at the same time, a young city, and for sure there will be a desire to return here again. Attractions of Yerevan attract, like a magnet, its beauty.

The heart of Yerevan is the Republic Square. It is completely built up with various monumental structures that reflect the national flavor. Here are the city chimes and the Government House. There is also a beautiful fountain with light music. And after walking along the boulevard adjacent to this square, you can find another 2750 small fountains. If you talk about the sights of Armenia, in particular, Yerevan, you can not forget about the Opera and Ballet Theater, the Historical Museum, the Genocide Museum, the Matenadaran, the National Picture Gallery. In addition, there may be interested in old churches and more modern temples, green squares, busy streets.

The sights of Armenia are not locatedonly in the capital. In its vicinity you can discover a large number of historical monuments. The main place among them is the center of the Armenian church - Echmiadzin. It is here, in the center of the ancient town of Vagharshapat, the Surb Hripsime, Surb Shoghakat and Surb Gayane temples, the Spiritual Academy, the Synod of the Armenian Church, the residence of the Catholicos, the library with over thirty thousand rare books, monastic cells and a large number of ancient khachkars. In addition, there are the Art Museum and the Komitas Local History Museum.

The temples of Armenia are very ancient and beautiful, andattract many tourists. The monastery Kecharis, built in the 11th century, until the 13th century was the spiritual center of the country. A vivid example of the skill of Armenian architects is the cave monastery of Gerard. This monastery was founded by Gregory the Illuminator and many times withstood the attacks of Arabs and Turks. The real jewel of the monastery is the church Astvatsatsin, which is cut straight in the rock, and two tombs of the princes. The temple was built according to a special method. First, the rocks made a well from above, and then gradually moved down, cutting and throwing out the stone. The hole from above is the only light source that refracts and illuminates the whole church.

The churches of St. Gregory and Saint Mariam wereBuilt already in the seventeenth century, after the earthquake. Previously, until 301, there was a fortress and several pagan temples. "Khor Virab" can be translated as "deep dungeon". In this terrible prison there was only one person in prison - a Christian missionary Grigory Lusarovich. Now the chapel is located above the dungeon. A few brave souls decide to go down the almost vertical ladder into this well.

The sights of Armenia are really ancient, beautiful and original. Visiting them, you will not be disappointed.
