Asus Geforce 210: overview of the video card

Asus Geforce 210 video card isan ultrabudgetary solution for assembling computers intended for office use. It received a minimum of video memory, a passive cooling system, and, most importantly, a low cost. It is advisable to purchase a chip only if the processor does not have built-in graphics. Asus Geforce 210 is not capable of giving advanced performance, so as a game solution it will not work. The advantages of the video card include silent operation and a wide range of interfaces for connection.

Packing and equipment

Asus Geforce 210 is sold in a cardboard boxbox of a small size. It is executed in black color, with colored drawings. On the front side there is a manufacturer's logo and the main technical parameters. Here you can see that the model is designed to build compact HTPC.

In the box, except the video card itself, there is a diskwith drivers and instructions. On one of the facets of the accelerator there is a set of interfaces: D-Sub, HDMI, DVI-I. This is enough to build an inexpensive computer, since you do not have to install third-party adapters. Works with digital and analog image.

Made by Asus Geforce 210 based onlow-profile PCB blue color. The length of the model is slightly more than 170 mm, height - about 70 mm. Small dimensions allow you to install the video card even in small cases.

The power of the accelerator is divided into two subsystems. The first is responsible for the graphics processor, the second - for video memory. Elements are on the front and back side, where there are bolts for fixing the cooling system.

3D accelerator based on 40nmgraphics processor from Nvidia. It includes sixteen CUDA cores, eight texture cores and four rasterization blocks. The chip clock frequency is 589 MHz.

Asus Geforce 210 1GB of video memory, performedby type GDDR3. The production of chips is handled by SK Hynix. However, the real memory is only 512 MB, the expansion to 1 GB is due to a special technology that takes 512 MB of RAM. To transfer information using a simple 64-bit bus, the bandwidth of which is 9.6 GB per second.

Cooling

The cooling system ASUS GeForce 210 representsa small size radiator made of aluminum. It is made in the standard form of ribs. Such a system ensures quiet operation even under high loads. In stress tests, the graphics card did not heat above 68 degrees. The indicator is quite good considering the cooling system without an active element. In the standard mode of operation (office programs, watching movies, web surfing), the temperature is much lower. In this case, the video card does not heat above 50 degrees. In general, the cooling system leaves a positive impression. Despite the design, it completely copes with its duties, remaining silent.

Testing

The video card was tested in conjunction with the processorIntel Core i7-4770K. During the tests, it was found that the integrated graphics chip HD Graphics 4600 turned out to be much more productive than the ASUS GeForce 210. Even in games the core is ahead of the discrete graphics card.

The performance of the ASUS GeForce 210 is enough forwork with text editors, many programs and old games. It does not play bad video in HD, it does a good job with browser games. More demanding games, even in conjunction with other powerful components will not work. Therefore, in this case, a more logical solution will be the purchase of a more productive graphics accelerator.
