In Russia, not so often prepare dishes from lentils. Perhaps this is due to the fact that few know what to combine this product with. Adding lemon juice, vinegar or tomato can drastically change the taste of a lentil dish. I would like to share a recipe for one of the popular dishes in Greece. So, today we have a Greek soup called Fakees on the menu.

Greeks are accustomed to adding various spices to each dish: mint, parsley, tarragon, pepper, coriander and garlic. So, let's still dwell on the popular Greek dish.

What will it take to make lentil soup?

Let's start preparing the necessary ingredients:

  • 5 tbsp. spoons of sunflower oil.
  • Sugar sand - 1 teaspoon.
  • 2 tbsp. spoons of paste from tomatoes.
  • 300 ml of vegetable broth.
  • 5 cloves of garlic.
  • 35% cream - 3 tsp.
  • 200 g of green lentils.
  • 2 red onions.
  • Black pepper.
  • 4 carrots.
  • Salt.
  • Dried sage.
  • Seeds of coriander.

Soup "Fakes": recipe for cooking

  1. First we'll do lentils: wash it, fill it with cold water and send it for a small fire for 15 minutes. The water level should be about 4 cm above the cereal.
  2. While lentils are brewed, we clean vegetables, cut the onions into cubes, chop the garlic (you can just crush it with a knife), cut the carrots along into quarters, and cut them into slices.
  3. In the pan, we pour oil (preference is given toolive), warm it well and fry onion with garlic, then add carrots, sugar, season with coriander and sage. Vegetables cook on a small fire for 10 minutes, do not forget to stir occasionally.
  4. In the lentils, add hot broth, salt, tomato paste and fried onions, garlic and carrots. We continue to cook our soup for another 20 minutes. The main thing is that the lentils become soft.
  5. Before finishing the cooking, check the Greek soup "Fakees" for salt, if necessary, add salt and season with black pepper.
  6. We remove the saucepan from the fire, pour it on plates and decorate with olives.

How to serve?

Greek soup "Fakees" is usually served with a piecefeta cheese, in addition, a prepared dish is poured a teaspoon of olive oil. In Greece, a rather large amount of vinegar is also added. If you can not tolerate this product, you can refuse such a presentation. The fact is that vinegar enriches the aroma of dishes from lentils.

In a 5-liter saucepan (it is desirable that the bottom was heavy), pour the oil and heat it over medium heat. There we send onions, celery and garlic. Preparation will take no more than 8 minutes.

We pour in water and start to prepare lentils and pearl barley. When the liquid boils, turn off the fire, cover it, continue cooking for about an hour. The main thing is to make lentils and pearl barbecue soft.

Tomatoes sliced ​​and sent to a pan, there tooadd salt, mint, pepper, oregano and liquid from tomatoes. Increase the fire to medium and bring to a boil, then reduce to a minimum and continue to cook without a lid.

It remains to add spinach and boil everything for 5-7 minutes. Do not bring to a boil. Ready dish pour on plates and add to each one spoonful of yogurt.
