National symbols are of great importance -anthem, emblem and flag. Sudan approved the latter as a state attribute on July 9, 2005. It to some extent resembles the cloth of neighboring Kenya. Sudan approved its flag with the only difference - the presence of a blue triangle with a yellow star, located next to the shaft. The blue color denotes the Nile River, the color of the star also speaks of the rich mineral reserves of Southern Sudan. This is especially true of oil.

The flag cloth has a rectangular shape, on itthere are three horizontal bands: black, red, green. The colors are separated by white stripes, which symbolize the state's desire for peace and quiet. Red talks about the struggle for sovereignty, green notes the importance of agriculture for the country, black color personifies the people of the country.
