Carburetor Solex: modifications
The basic design of these devices was developed by the engineers of the French company Soleks.
At the Dimitrovgrad plant, we later receivedlicense for production, and all other modifications were made by specialists here. A popular Solex 21073 was developed at the DAAZ. Reviews about it are only positive. The mechanism is easy to set up and is highly reliable. DAAZ-2108 is designed to work with a 1.3 liter engine for VAZ 2108 and 2109. Solex 21083 was modified for 1.5-liter power units. The same mechanisms were equipped with models from the first parts of the VAZ 2110 with an ignition system based on a microprocessor. On the classic VAZ models were installed "Solex" 21053-1107010. Models VAZ "Niva" were equipped with the mechanism "Solex" 21073-1107010. Now he was replaced by an injector.
The carburettor "Solex" 21073 is of the typeemulsion. Modifications to it were initially installed on motors with non-contact ignition. The device is characterized by the presence of two chambers equipped with throttle valves, as well as dosing systems. Also, the device has transition systems for the first and second cameras. There is an idling system, but only for the first camera.
The mechanism is two halves. Lower - more massive - and upper. The given half is directly the case of the device, and the top part is for a carburettor a cover. At the bottom of each chamber there are flaps of rotary type with a mechanical type of drive. At the top in the first chamber of the carburetor is a damper for air supply. It is necessary for launching an unheated power unit. This part is operated by a cable that goes into the interior and is connected to the lever responsible for the suction and with the starting vacuum system.
The "Solex 21073" works as follows. Gasoline will get into the float chamber with the help of the inlet fitting - the fuel also passes through the filter net, where it is cleaned, and goes through the needle valve. The chamber with a float is two-sectional, and the sections are connected together. They will have the same amount of gasoline. This design significantly reduces the effect of body tilts on the fuel level in this chamber.
This ensures a more stable operationengine. As the chamber fills up, the float, pressing a part of the needle valve, blocks the access of fuel to the chamber. So the constant level of gasoline in the mechanism is maintained. Then, from the float chamber, gasoline passes through jets into the mixing wells. Air enters into these wells through special openings in emulsion tubes or air jets. Then they mix gasoline and air. As a result, a fuel mixture is formed. It will fall into the small as well as into the large diffusers of the device. This is the main dosing chamber. Depending on the mode of operation of the engine, various mechanisms and systems can be started in the carburetor. When the owner tries to start the engine "on the cold" in order to enrich the fuel mixture, a launch device enters the case. His driver starts from the salon - it's suction.

This node is necessary in order to supplycombustion chamber with a combustible mixture at the lowest possible speed. Thanks to this system, the power unit will not stall when there is no load. Fuel in the system will fall on the main jet in the first chamber. Through the nozzle XX, where it then mixes with oxygen, the fuel enters the system through the air valve. This mechanism allows to ensure stable operation of the engine at idle speed without load.
Further, the combustible mixture will enter the first chamber througha special channel located under the throttle. The fuel mechanism leading to the outlet port XX is closed with a quality screw. This is an adjusting screw, which can be adjusted and changed the characteristics of the carburetor.
